EFT is a safe, gentle, noninvasive technique that can be used along with any medical treatment or other self-help method. Numerous case reports by clinicians who have used EFT with clients, and by individuals who have applied it to their own lives, have been published over a period of years in Gary Craig’s comprehensive newsletter. These accounts indicate that many people who try EFT benefit from it, often in an impressive way. In addition independent research has substantiated the beneficial effects that EFT has on fears and phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other troubling conditions.
Because the list below represents a limited segment of the general public, you will not see here accounts of people who did not benefit from EFT (they did not write us about them), although some of the reports describe a need for continued use of EFT over an extended period of time. It is useful to know the limitations of EFT because although it sometimes works immediately and dramatically to ameliorate a troubling condition, in other instances it requires persistence and dedication to obtain its results, and occasionally it fails to work at all for a specific individual. The only way to find out if you personally will benefit from EFT is to try it, making sure that you apply it correctly as instructed by an expert teacher. Fortunately, you can learn EFT quickly and well at little or no cost as described below.
To Get Started with EFT
There are three main ways to learn EFT in your home. (Most people first learn through home instruction):
1. The easiest way to learn EFT at home from an authority in the method takes just under one hour (see Dr. Carrington’s Introduction to EFT DVDs). Using this approach, you will learn the new Short Form of EFT which Gary Craig, EFT’s founder, and most EFT Masters presently use, and apply it to your own issues while you learn.
2. You can download Gary Craig’s 80-page EFT Manual from his site, free of charge. This manual teaches the original Long Form of EFT which is essential for historians of Energy Psychology and researchers, but it also contains much valuable information and hints for any aspiring EFT user. You will eventually need to read this manual to understand EFT in depth if you plan to study the method later, or read it now if you want to learn the Long Form right away without spending any money.
3. You can purchase Gary Craig’s training course in Basic EFT (The EFT Course). This 16 hour training teaches the Long Form of EFT and demonstrates its use for a wide variety of common problems. This series is a must for all serious students of EFT, and is a gateway to later advanced study of the technique.
Recommended Steps for Learning
We suggest you select one or more of the above home study methods and apply them in the order you wish. An arrangement we have found to be particularly helpful is the following:
1. To get a quick start, learn the Short Form of EFT and apply it to your own problems as you view the DVDs.
2. Absorb the principles of EFT by downloading Gary Craig’s EFT Manual and read (and later reread) it at your leisure.
Find out how you can use EFT for many common problems by purchasing Gary Craig’s Basic EFT Course. You will probably want to watch this series again from time to time in order to absorb all its rich information. If you are a professional in the health field, a teacher, a coach, or otherwise work with people, you can also take the EFT Certificate of Completion Examination based on this course which is, in itself, a valuable learning experience.
