This is an article I am really pleased to be writing. As former Director of the EFT Certificate Program which for ten years (1998 to 2008) awarded EFT-CC and EFT-ADV Certificates of Completion to those who passed examinations based on selected DVDs by Gary Craig, I have a special commitment to the future of EFT Practitioners and their need for professional listings. In fact, practitioners have been asking me quite a few questions since our EFT Certificate Program ended on June 6. The most frequent one I hear is, “Does this mean that the EFT-CC or EFT-ADV degrees for which I worked so diligently are going to ‘fade in importance’, as some have suggested they would?”. My answer to this has been a clear cut “No”. This response has come from the fact that earned educational degrees are, in fact, permanent. The EFT Certificate of Completion designations will retain their rightful place as an honorable EFT credential, just as a high school or college degree is of permanent value to the person who has worked for it and passed the requisite examinations. I, for example, do not consider my Ph.D. degree from Columbia University to be any less valuable because I earned it in 1969. In fact, its value would remain even if Columbia University were to disappear. Similarly, the EFT Certificate Program designations earned by our graduates will continue to be of value in the future to all those who hold them. The question that remains, however, is where people who possess these certificates will be listed in the future? Gary Craig update his list of EFT Practitioners on June 27, 2008 and is now accepting applications for his revised listing of practitioners. His criteria for inclusion on this new list is more rigorous than before, and eventually that list will include only those practitioners who have passed his EFT Certification examinations. These are excellent exams by the way (I have taken one of them myself – and I passed!) and will fill an important role in the EFT world, but not every practitioner by any means will qualify to take these examinations because of the stringent requirements for doing so. How then can we learn about those other EFT Practitioners, the ones that won’t make it to Gary’s list, perhaps because they do not meet Gary’s criteria of an EFT Practitioner as a person whose primary technique and work is almost entirely EFT, uncombined with other methods? And how are we to judge the merits of those who will necessarily be left out of Gary’s list? One potential answer to this question has just been put forth by Nicolas Ortner, the creator/producer of the first full-length movie about EFT, the highly acclaimed documentary, Try It On Everything. Many of us are now using this film to introduce others to this method because of its moving human stories and its honest (non-“hypey”) presentation of EFT. Nick is about to launch a new website to be called EFT International. This site is intended to fill a special role with respect to EFT Practitioner and EFT Workshop listings, and will (I am happy to say!) appropriately recognize those who have earned the EFT-CC and EFT-ADV designations, as well as those who possess other pertinent EFT training credentials or have received recognized training in closely related fields. Not only will this new site be a showcase for EFT Practitioners and Workshop leaders, but it will provide us with a much needed tool to begin an evaluation process so that we need not go blindly through the lists this site will provide. I won’t describe this tool but let Nick Ortner himself tell you about it. Here is his description.
